If all else fails, replace the gears in the differential with correct ones. It will probably make the car run better as well (since this is what the car was designed for).the cable housing is probly in a bind under the car /inthe trans at the cables end inthe trans is a plastic gear on the end remove the Yclip at trans pull cyl out and theres your part .

You need to know what transmission you have and the rear end gears. Steeda has an excellent page that you can check and see which speedo gear you need.While you're under there, depending on the mileage you should check, drain and replace the transmission fluid if necessary. Manuals are easy. Automatics I always have serviced.
