The Camry is front wheel drive with a transverse mounted engine. The LS460 is rear wheel drive with a traditionally mounted engine. The longer wheelbase of the Lexus accommodates for the larger engine and tranny.Which is the best GPS Car Navigation out on the market?

The new LS460 is definitely an experience to drive. The transmission and engine are impossibly quiet and smooth. As far as a luxury car for luxury's sake, you would be hard pressed to find anything better. True, it doesn't offer the same fun to drive quality as a BMW or a Mercedes-Benz. The self-parking system is neat to play with, but in my experience is too complicated to use in a lot of driving situations. As to speak to the reason that they didn't offer the Camry with the same engine or transmission...The camry would not be offered with a V8 engine because it is Toyota's base level mid-size sedan. Perhaps the Avalon or the like would have such a powerplant. The 8-speed automatic transmission is a first in a production sedan and is only offered on Lexus' top of the line model (LS460). Additionally, the price difference is nearly 400% between the Camry and LS460. I work for Lexus and we have had LS460s price between $61,000 and $96,000. A Camry could be had for as little as $20,000-$30,000. Because Lexus is a "Cut Above" the standard Toyota. You pay for what you get. Lexus is the best car made.The Camry is a family car and it has to be affordable for families. Also, Lexus is the upscale for Toyota so it has fancier feartures to match the price of the car
