Question:
The left rear tire is starting to squeak when I drive. Are my brakes going bad? Do you recommend a good place to get it serviced? Could it be anything else? The car is in excellent condition, but now my left rear tire is starting to squeak noticebaly. What is the worse that could happen?

On a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis, a sqeak noise seemingly originating from the left rear of the vehicle when it is in motion, can possibly be caused by any one of the following:-parking brake shoe linings separated from the backing, causing it to rattle free inside the "hat" of the rear brake rotor (YES, your car does have rear disc brakes)
-seizing up rear u-joint
-low pressure
-rear brake pads worn (if the noise occurs only during application of brakes)
Those are just a few possible causes, but without actually hearing the noise, it's hard to pinpoint. Hope this helps.
Just a random guess, I would check the air pressure in your tire. it may be lower then needed.
your roters could get messed up unless its only 2 wheeled disc breaks in the front then that means that you got drums on back wheels that they would get chewed up and you would have to readjust the break setting to make a new set of brakes to fit the new drum.If caught early enough you can have the roters or drums turned and buy new brakes.Great service place is midas
if the noise is will driving and not win applying the brake it mite be well bearings and that can be dangerous take it to a auto dealer and git it fixed by some one trained for that type of car
Which vehicle is better? A hilux or a pulsar?
Either an axle bearing, rock in the dust cover, or something wrong with the parking brakesMore Questions & Answers ...
