What is the best thing to do when you have a blown Speaker in your audi?
Ok... I'm going to explain this. I own a shop and have been building small block Chevy engines for years. Eight inch diameter torsional dampers are recommended for most high-performance and competition applications. The 6 3/4 inch diameter is recommended for applications with limited clearance. Either one of these dampers will work on either one of the 305, or 350 engines, but the 400 is different because it is externally balanced, and must have a counter weight on the flywheel and balancer. The pre-1969 dampers have the TDC timing mark that is 2 degrees before the centerline of the keyway, and the mark is ten degrees before the keyway centerline on 1969 and up dampers. If you are using a used torsional damper, and you are unsure if its a early or late style, the timing mark position should be verified by using a dial indicator or piston stop on the number one cylinder to accurately determine the dampers (TDC) top dead center position. I have built many engines, and have used both on the same engine. They are designed to dampen the harmonic viberations by flexing the rubber between the inside hub and the outside inertia ring. If you will take a long hard look at the aftermarket dampers, you will find big ones, little ones, thick ones, and skinny ones. You can get a Elastomer Torsional damper, a Malleable Iron damper, or a fluidamper. The choice is yours, but the timing mark for the TDC is the only differnce you have to be concerned with. I hate I have to disagree with everyone on here, but you can call Chevrolet, or get a copy of their Chevy Power Guide, and you will see that I am correct. Wow... I'm sure going to get the thumbs down on this one, but I must stand by what I know and read.Glad to help you out, Good Luck!

9 years mechanic<< Yes it matters! To large or heavy and you will cause engine failure. The harmonic balancer keeps the rotating assembly from shaking itself into pieces.Whats the time from 0-60 mph in a Chevy avalanche 5.3 liter engine?

everybody,s a mechanic now, anyway yes it does,if you put the wrong one on it you can throw it out of balance real easy, and it may not balance out right either, there was two different ones for the 350 engine, one for the 4 bolt mains, and one for the 2 bolt main blocks, make sure you get the right one for it,good luck.Anyone selling a wee suzuki jimny in scotland?
Heck Yes it matters!!! Where is the original one that came on it? You cannot improve performance by changing a smaller light wt. one for one over the original wide heavy one or vice versaMore Questions & Answers ...
