I have a '86 Honda. The battery was used by the shop (damn people!)?

When I start the car it will give a noise and it will try to start but the battery dies along the way. What does this mean? Does it need a new battery?

Batteries don't make noise. It is a bad connection. The starter-relay is bad, possibly. The guy above answered the question.

I'm not sure what you mean used by the shop and if the battery is dying after the car is running a bit and making a noise, it probably is a loose serpentine belt. The battery probably can be recharged.

i doubt the shop would just use up your battery...
1.your alternator is at fault
2.the battery is 20 years old...if its the original (doubt it tho)
3.the starter is at fault
