Why cant bmw make a bmw m5 convertible ? !?
A T-350 doesn't come with the option of a lockup converter. Early T-400's and late model transmissions (T-200, T-700 R4) did.A lock up converter has an internal clutch that engages (or "locks") to reduce engine RPM at a given road speed. It requires an electrical signal from the cars computer ort a switch to operate. A transmission witha lock up converter has additional wiring - a standard T350 has no harness.
Stall is described accurately above - One way to determine stall (Flash stall - not true stall) is to lock the brakes and apply throttle. The car will rev up to the point of transmission without the rear tires breaking loose. Stock converter stall is usually 1800-2000 rpm. Higher stall gives you more of a "holeshot" or quick accelration off of the line during a race.

When speaking of lock up they are really talking about the tranny/converter combo. a stall converter requires a higher engine speed to create enough fluid flow in the tranny to move the car. this allows you to get your engine into the rpm range where it can make good hp before the care takes off. If you put to high of a stall in a street car you will end up burning up your tranny. You had me nervous for a minute. Phew!a lock-up trans will do just as it says, the torque converter will lock -up with the running gear at a certain speed to get a 1 to1 ratio and doesn't allow the torque converter to slip at all thus acting like an overdrive for better gas mileage where a non lock-up will allow the converter to slip some. A high speed stall converter allows your engine to get to a certain RPM quicker than a stock converter, usually used in racing to get your RPM's up a lot quicker for faster times on the dragstrip.
