Well I hate to say bad things about the durango because I'm trying to sell mine but.. I wouldn't buy a dodge if I were you! Let's see I average 12 MPG, and I'm on my 3rd power steering, have had to replace both of my keys (broken), my starter, horn pad, electronics, side molding, window insulation thing (sorry don't know all the technical words) and my computer has had trouble updating. Not to mention they are starting to ketch on fire. I know what your probably thinking; that I must be really hard on my vehicle but I'm not!! It's an 04 with only 24,000 miles on it and babied! It has been in and out of the shop since I bought it and I lost almost $20,000 on it in just over 2 yrs. So they don't hold there value. My boyfriend bought a dodge ram 2500 on the same day I bought mine his has not had as many problems as mine but has had to replace the power steering and a couple other things. My mom bought a brand new in 03 Dakota and has had horrible electrical problems the whole time and no matter what dealership she brings it too to fix it the problems keep coming back! And then there's my old roommate who bought a new neon and has had to replace her entire comp. so my advice is to try a Toyota 4-runner that's what I'm moving to they're very reliable and hold on to there value.2001 Golf check engine light since synthetic mix added.?
I have used my brothers, it has great towing capacity however it's a gas hog. My brother opted for the 318 motor instead of the 383 and it still used a lot of fuel. Bought a Tundra, better gas mileage and better tow package, drives great!.good luck

Durango's and Dakota's (basically the same vehicle) have quite high repair bills, I work in a garage, and whenever I get one in, the parts always seem to be much higher then other vehicles in its class. They are good driving vehicles and quite reliable, and yes, they are gas hogs. My father has a Dakota with the 5.2L (318ci) and it is a nice driving truck. I would personally look into other vehicles in this class first, like the Explorer/Mountianeer, or Trail Blazer, or such first, only on the fuel and repair bill side. They are a nice driveing vehicle and once my father finishes with his Dakota (when he moves a provence over), I'm picking up the Dakota. I love that truck. I love my Ranger more though (because its mine, and I've put a lot of blood and sweat into it).Need help and in site on puting a 350 chev in to a suberu xt-6?

I have a '99 durango. I average 13 mpg. It goes in the shop an average of once a month. The cost for these repairs range anywhere from $200 for a minor problem to $1,000 for the big stuff. I had to use my entire tax refund just to make it safe to drive. It's a nice looking car, but the gas and repairs are making it hard for me to like it. It has new plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and a new intake gasket. It still doesn't run right. I've had the idle air control replaced twice. It was leaking power steering fluid, but that was just a hose. The hatch wouldn't lock with the rest of the doors, but I fixed that. The ball joints went bad. The brakes wear quickly, and the rotors warp. Two power window switches went bad. Oxygen sensors, catalytic converter went bad. There's more but that's all I can think of right now. This car has only 110,000 miles on it and has been troublesome from the beginning. I only keep it because we owe twice what it's worth and can't afford to trade it in. If I ever get this heap paid off, I am buying a Honda or Toyota.Have worked at a Rental agency & have driven a few. Overall? I'm not a fan. It feels like a bus. It's not easy to park. And while roomy There are better choices. Latest news? The Newark, DE Plant that makes it is on the shutdown list due to poor sales. Other than the Fleets sales, they have few takers. i actually liked it beter before the redesign 5 years ago.
