I have a 2002 Mercury Sable, in pretty good shape. I was getting in the car today, got in and heard a horrible glass like breaking sound from under the car. I got out and looked, did not see anything in particular. I then got back in started it up hit reverse and the front drivers side tire went flat. i tried to look around to try and see something under it, but couldnt see anything. I dont know if the front end has an axle or something that can break that would do that? this just happened so its still parked at my work parking spot and haven't changed the tire yet. tomorrow we are going to look under it and try to see what happened, i was just looking for some type of hint tonite

There was probably a glass bottle near your tire, as you rolled over it, it broke and shot the bottle away from the car. Imagine holding an orange seed real tight, it'll "squirt" away with more force.where can i buy mercedes m class wing mirrors?
That is probably why you didn't find any significant amount of glass on the ground. There is nothing on the suspension that would sound like glass if it broke. If it was a shock or spring, it would be a loud metallic sound since those are under a lot of tension.

That's very unusual. It's probably something external, a stick or piece of metal stuck in the tire or even glass under the tire. There's not much in the front end that would sound like glass while breaking, the only thing I can think of it the front end that would break and not sound like metal would be the endlinks if they're made out of plastic but it would mostly sound like a thud and wouldn't cause your tire to go flat. :-/dodge stratus 2003 the check engine light came on had it check out?
sounds like someone put a glass bottle or something glass in back of your tire hoping that you would run over it.you probably smashed a bottle and got a flat carefully run your hand around that tire and fell for anything from the axle suspension or body that is to close to the tire your fist should fit around it pretty good
