What has to be done behind turnsig. switch on column 2 remove ign.loc&tumb.w/okey on73 C20 pickup?

i have a73 chevy pck up custon cab, came with no keys, i need to remove the lock and tumbler from the column so i can install a new one i've removed everything from column to down below the turn sig, switch, i thought that there was a spot oon column where a small center punch or small drill bit would give access to the pin that holds the lock in. is this the case?

Deltech is wrong. You have to take a sharp ,narrow chisel(no wider than a 1/4 in.) and break through a thin casted section of the column housing. If I remember correctly,This area to be punched through is center to the tumbler axis near the end of the tumbler. You'll see a brass thumbnail protruding slightly out of the tumbler assemly.It's that brass protrusion that you must depress to allow that tumbler to be withdrawn. Be sure to relube the geared components as you re-assemble the switch assembly.
