In a 1999 honda civic is there a factory amp?
i own a shop and you can use any thing you want to on it, some of the originals were Holley's ,and jeep had there own make of a carburetor also, but the Holley's did the best on these,i had one from the factory that had a 650 cfm carb on it and it done real good,if its a stock 401 a good 650 will run it really good without over loading it at an idle, the performance model of the 401 came with a 750 cfm carb, and had a great big old breather on it,good luck hope this helps.I need to know what the difference is between a z66 avalanche and a z71 avalanche.?
Depending on the year 401, most likely it came with a Ford Motorcraft 4300 or 4350 4 barrel between 1973 and 1977. (per my 1977 Motor's manual) No wonder AMC used to be called "Spare parts from the Big 3".just kidding.Anyways I agree with "Dodge Man" that a 650 cfm or larger carburetor should be used, but I disagree about using a Holley.
Is it possible to put a tt into a 2+2 300zx?
First of all you might not be able to put a Holley on the stock intake manifold, like I said earlier it might have a motorcraft 4350 carb and if it does it is a "Spreadbore" type where as Holley is a square bore carburetor.
Can a stopped up catylatic converter stop a 1996 dodge 1500 from firing?
So, with this in mind you might be limited to using a Motorcraft carb unless you change the intake manifold.
I found a good website to illustrate this, see my first link..
If you have a squarebore manifold which used a 4100 or 4300 A motorcraft carb, than you more choices. I think this was available from 71 to 73, but I am no AMC expert, but I worked with many carburetors over my 35 yrs of experience.
Unless you are going to race the car I don't recommend Holley's. They were designed in the early 50's when gas was less than .25 a gallon, they only have single venturi's so the gas is not atomized well which results in poor fuel economy.
My recommendation would be Carter or today they are now called the Edelbrock Performer 4 barrel. Carter used to make multi venturied 4 barrels like the Thermoquad, AVS and the AFB. But since carbs went out in the 80's and replaced by fuel injection, Carter dumped the line and Edelbrock picked them up and now call them performer's.
Oil pump for 01 ford f350 7.3 liter?
You can get decent performance and mileage with one of these. Depending on your engine you can go up to 800 cfm with no adverse affects with a AFB, since it has vacuum secondaries. Only Holley's goof up when you go too large unless you know how to jet them to work with you engine.
How much is my 2004 subaru forester worth?
So go to your local Pep boys or Advanced auto and buy a Performer carb unless you are going to drag race.. If you going to drag, buy a 4150 750 or 800 cfm double pumper and you'll have plenty of carburetor!!
Who like hondas? i got a honda civic its only for show!!cuz i look hot in it.?
If you have a 4300-D or 4350 Motorcraft your kind of stuck with this carb because of the stock manifold. You could put an adapter on this, but these usually are more for aligning the bolt holes and flow suffers so they usually wind up as a disappointment. If this is your case then your only hope is
buy a different manifold to use a better carb. The Performer carbs will not bolt up to a Ford spreadbore pattern.
Would I easily be able to tow a small boat w/ impreza 2.5i, say 1400 lbs.?
Now these recommendations are for a properly running engine with all 8 cylinders working, heads that don't need rebuilding, a non-worn down camshaft and dual exhausts.
If this engine's a beater maybe you should find the stock Motorcraft carb that came with it.
Good Luck!!
