Question:
Anybody know what the factory recomends for octane rating and engine oil weight to be use in a 1995 model year engine? I have the engine in a motorhome on a1 ton van chassis and drive from sea level to 7000 ft elevation in moderate climates.
Thanks

Does anyone else have a Volkswagen New Beetle with LOTS of problems?
Your glove compartment book most likely will say 5w-30 using regular fuel. I'm not familiar your mileage on your odometer if your on the other side of 75,000 I'd switch to 10w -30. If the motor is dry with no leaks you would benefit using a full synthetic and change it once per. year. Mobil 1 has a 15,000 full synthetic. My answer on gasoline will be some what of a shocker. 87 octane doesn't work as well as 89 or 93. Every gasoline engine on the market has an on board knock sensor which immediately retards the spark advance if the sensor detects pinging or spark knock. Reduced spark advance murders horsepower and fuel economy. Using higher octane fuel eliminates or reduces the sensors need to retard the spark. Give better fuel a chance someday and see if your mileage picks up and your power along with it.What is the max gross weight of the yukon dandli?
87 octain should suit the driving conditions, and 5w30 mobil 1 synthetic oil is the best choice for oil2000 Ford Expedition idles very rough!?
i own a repair shop, and a good 5-w-30 would be a real good oil to use in it and it will work well with most climates also,,if you have a few miles on this one,you might want to switch it to a synthetic oil,i changed one for one of my customers and it thrilled him that it helped his motor home get a lot better mileage, and also runs a lot cooler i used a Mobil one synthetic oil in it,10-w-30 ,and his is also a 95 model with a 454 ,just about the same thing that you got ,his was the Itasca model,i wouldn't recommend this if it wouldn't help it,but it really will make a big difference in the way it runs and pulls,i hope this has helped ,good luck with it.,i sort of left out the fuel part of it his runs real good on mid grade fuel, but it didn't do this until we switched brand and weight of oil in it ,good luck.87 octane is perfectly fine. Its not a high comp motor that needs higher octane. Due to the age and possible high mileage I would use a 20W-50 full synthetic such as Mobil 1. Mobil 1 is the Factory Filled oil on Vettes, Caddies, Porsche, BMW, the list goes on and on.
I have a 2001 grand am that is having back end noises?
I have used it from day one on my 99 Tahoe pushing 100k and its running strong as ever.
