Even though 20 inch rims will fit on a Nissan Maxima, but is the ride going to be normal?

Question:
I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima SE and im lookin to put 20in rims on my car by the summer, but i heard from this guy i know, that one of his boyz put 20s on a maxima and everytime he would go over a bump or have 3people in the car it would rub, cause tha rims were too big, now i dont know about all of that, cause theres a site www.tirerack.com that will tell u the biggest size rims u can get for any car, and i typed my car in, and it says a maxima can fit 20 inch rims and also tells me tha tire size that are needed, so i don't understand, all im askin is, if i get 20in rims on my 2001 maxima, will the rims rub in the wheel well wen i go over a bumb or have more than 1 person in the car, so if anybody out there has or knows somebody with a nissan maxima with 20in rims on there please let me know with INFO cause i really wanna put 20s on my car soon, so please let me know, THANK U!!

How can I reset the ECU of an Honda Accord 2003 V6?

Well, dont assume 20" wheels will clear the calipers. I have seen so many posts in here about people buying bigger wheels, and they dont clear the brake calipers.
Assuming they fit over the calipers, as long as the wheel tire package you buy, is the same diameter as the current wheels/tires, you wont have a problem rubbing. (this is an example, so dont use these measurments) if your current tire is a 225/65/R16, youre going to need a tire that has the same height... so it could be a 225/20/R20... its going to be an extremely thin tire, but the height wont change, so you will be fine. Now, if you cant find that small of a tire, your **** out of luck, the best you could do is buy some very narrow 20 wheels so when turning they wont rub, but youre still going to have the problem of them bottoming out when you hit small bumps.

Would it be better if i just added a turbo on my 94 accord or swap it first with iether an h22 or k20 first?

Here are the rules when it comes to buying custom wheels.
#1. Make sure they fit. before you purchase anything call the manufacturer of the wheels, and have them send you a fax stating that the wheel/tire package you chose will have no fitment issues whatsoever, and if they do, they will refund your money, or give you credit.
#2. Dont buy used wheels. Wheels have a limited lifetime, they can break without any visual effects, and until you put them on your car, you wont realize they have lived their life. Wheels break in many ways, they will wobble, they will feel like they are dragging the car down, they will be noisy.
#3. Dont buy cheap wheels. You get what you pay for. You want to stick with a high quality brand name wheel. The quality of the wheel material and manufacturing technique determine the majority of the cost. From worst to best: Stamped, Cast, Billet, Forged... There is an exception though. If you are a person who buys a new set of wheels every 3 months, it really doesnt matter. if you break a wheel, youre just going to purchase a new set, so its not an issue.
#4. Make sure they fit. if you dont take the time to research a set of wheels before you buy them, youre going to be stuck with a $2000 set of wheels that dont fit, and because you mounted them to the car, you own them... they company will not take them back.
#5. Always buy 5 wheels. If you bend one wheel, send it to a shop to get it fixed, and end up driving around for 2-4 weeks on 3 custom wheels and 1 stocker will destroy your suspension.
If youre buying a multi peice wheel, you only need to purchase 4 wheels and 1 extra rim. Multi peice wheels are designed to fail at the rim.

Can i install power windows if mine are standar on my truck?

It's all in the turning radius. I have 24in rims on my Escalade. If I cut the wheel too much, the tires rub. If I don't they won't. That's the only time I have a "problem" with the rims. Also, as long as your car isn't sitting too low to the ground, it shouldn't matter how many people you have in the car.

your friends car might need new shocks/struts or coil springs an they have these rubber bumpers that you can put in the coil springs to limit how low it will compress so it doesnt bottom out

If you own a 2006 Dodge Caravan or Grand Caravan what do you like and/or dislike about it?

You can fit 20" rims but the ride is never going to be normal. The offset of the wheels and the size of the tire plays a lot into it when you're going with 20s. Make sure you buy wheels with offsets between 35mm - 40mm. Any more than that and your 245mm wide tires WILL rub on your struts. Also, a reason why your friend rubs tires on every bump is maybe because his struts are worn. If you do buy anything over 40mm offset, buy spacers (5mm or 10mm) to keep it "flush" with the fender.

O.K. Is a Suzuki Jimny a good, cheap vehicle, which would get me down bumpy roads to the beach?

I've fitted 20s on mine with 38mm offset and it rode fine and I'm lowered 2" all around and never had a problem with any rubbing. I've since taken off these wheels because they're not comfortable at all for daily driving and went for 18s. And tires on 20" wheels aren't cheap either.

^^^^^^^^^^malancho is right it's all based on the right offset of teh wheels and that offset that you used sounds about right..

What is the max horsepower on a 454 2 bolt main can handle with forge internals?

My friend has a Maxima with 22's (parts manager at my dealership) and he put spring extenders to compensate for the suspension travel so it wouldn't rub tires on a bump. Is it safe? no. Is it comfortable? no. But the wheels don't rub anymore and the ride is not as good but it is acceptable (because tires act like springs and are part of the suspension system; so if you cut down on the springs i.e. a lower profile tire, you cut down on the ride quality) . He hasn't complained at all (been 6 months). You really wanna ask a shop that specializes in putting these kinds of wheels on cars like maximas on a daily basis. There are too many unknowns and too many styles of rims to know for sure. Sometimes it's a matter of trial and error. You can measure things like offset and ride height and wheel clearance and all that but you'll still have to tweak here and there. The correct or more acceptable method to reduce wheel rubbing is to install heavy duty tall bump stops, springs for the application and better shocks. Spring extenders can cause the spring to break and tear a hole in the tire at high speeds, especially if you live in the salt belt or near the beach where rust can develop at the contact points.

Is there a website where i can find out what size factory speakers are in my 2000 mitsubishi galant?

Your Nissan maxima can fit any size rim you want it to fit it all just depends on how much money you are willing to pay to get it done right. I have three friends with Nissan maximas and thinking about getting one for my self .One of my friends has a 1999 max. with 22inch rims and another with a 2001 Max with 24inch rims and another with 20’’ on a 2001 low rider max and that thing can hit the ground. They all don’t have one problem with there cars wheel wise. Take your car to a good aftermarket shop and have them do the job and they should get it feeling just as good as with your old rims. In order to get this job done right you will need bigger brakes and springs that will put your car at lest 1-2 inches higher if you want a quick job. I would recommend some nitto performance tires that have like an inch of tire that way you can have all the clearance you want and some Brembo brakes. Advice would be don’t go for cheap if you want it done get it done the right way from the beginning. So get your 20’s and get it done right and give your friend with that maxima a ride.
