There is nothing wrong with Tesco petrol now,and it can be bought with complete confidence.The problem arose when a distribution centre which supplied Tecso, Morrisons<some Asda etc. inadvertently added silicon to unleaded petrol. Silicon is usually added to diesel.The result was that some cars,not all,suffered a fault in the exhaust sensors which form part of the engine management system causing the car to be put in a limp home mode. This meant the cars performance was very sluggish and had to be taken off the road.curing the fault by local garages and fitting new sensors could cost up to £1000. As soon as the problem was realised the supermarkets stopped selling the contaminated fuel and had their tanks drained and refilled. An expensive operation.Tesco ,who were not at fault for this occurrence have stated that any person who could prove they were sold contaminated fuel and suffered a breakdown would be fully re-reimbursed providing they had a receipt for petrol purchased during the relevant time and a receipt for the cost of the remedial treatment.Not all cars were affected ,it depended on the management used in that particular car. The worst affected were french cars.I don't think fords were affected at all.I think Tesco have been very fair in this whole matter.
