you can expect to pay anywhere from $100 - $300 for the changer depending on new or used.
i dont know if VW offered a Phat Noise in 2000, but i have one in my Jetta and it's nice. it's a 14 gig mp3 player that plugs into the cd changer plug in the trunk. the only downside, the mp3 player only works in the car or in the cradle (where you load the mp3s) attached to the computer.
ebay...your best spot to find one, not sure on the price i would guess somewhere around 80-120, maybe even cheaper but with shipping probably more then that.good luck
