Question:
i've noticed some holes in the headlights of my 98 mercury mountaineer, they look like they are there to mount something, they're about the size of a LED light so im wondering if since these kinds of cars are used as police veichles if they are for strobe lights or somethng. on the back side there is a rubber L shaped thing that looks like it's there to protect bare wires if there were a light in there but there are no wires running through it. the holes are in one of the upper corners and one of the lower corners. and it's the 2 piece headlights, so the turn signal is on the corner then there's just the big main headlight part. (unlike the lights that appear to be in 4 sections like on the explorers)

Sounds like a moisture hole. They are there so you dont have a moisture build up and fog up your lights all the time.Basically they are there for moisture to escapeJohny is right I have a international trk and i had to drill holes in bottom of light to let water out the gasket often leaks and the top hole is a vent so when the sun heats it up the moisture drys rather than staying on inside of light lens
