Battery Or Starter?

i have a Honda 250 fourtrax four wheeler i can kick start it but i can't crank it with the start button. the lights work but the battery looks shot

The lights only work when the engine is running right. If so you need a battery.

take it to autozone and have them tested. even though the lights are on it could still be the alternator. even though it will not start it could be the starter, it could be the battery. get it tested first so that you replace the correct component the first time around.
