Why does my 05 Chevy Aveo accelerate quicker then my 97 Sentra?

Aveo - 1.6L DOHC 16v l-4, 103 HP 107 ft/lb torque.
Sentra - 1.6L Twin Cam 16v, 115 HP (I don't know torque.)

can't say why it accelerates quicker,but I can say this be wary of your aveo.I hade an 05'model to It burned for no apparent reason at only 23k. while I was driving it.I also have a second one with no problems so far and at 28k.But both of my aveo's were quicker than you would expect out of that car.
