If it's a manual transmission it's comming from your transfercase. If it's an automatic transmission it's comming from either the transmission or the transfercase. Either way go have it looked at by a mechanic.

This could be coolant or transmission fluid. Coolant will be a bit more dense than water, while tranny fluid is closer to the consistency of motor oil. With the engine cool, remove the radiator cap and check the color & level of the coolant. If the coolant is green, then the leaking fluid is likely coming from the rear main seal of the transmission. Use the transmission dipstick to check the color and level of that fluid.
