Is Lexus LS 430 Trunk Strut Problem Very Common?

MY WIFE HAS BEEN HIT IN THE HEAD MANY TIMES, AS I HAVE, BY THE 2001 LS 430 TRUNK LID COMING DOWN DUE TO MODERATE WINDS AND JUST PUTTING GROCERIES IN THE TRUNK. THE WEAK TRUNK STRUT CONDITION GETS WORSE OVER TIME, SO WHO ELSE HAS A 2001 TO 2006 LS 430 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM?

This is a very common problem. The struts are not defective, they simply wear with age as the gas slowly deteriorates from within. They are not very expensive to replace. There is a similar concern with the trunk shocks on the SC430 coupe. Not a defective part, just normal wear and tear.
