I replaced the speed sensor. Can drive starting in 2nd, get up to speed, throw it in neutral, and it's okay. Do I need a new tranny? Or replace the sillinoid or torque converter first? Seems electronic, not mechanical.

You didn't mention the year of F-250, but I'm assuming that it's a diesel (6.0L or 7.3L?). They are usually the ones that exhibit transmission issues due to the high torque use they are subjected to on the diesel applications. Like gearbox says, a flashing O/D cancel indicator means the PCM has detected a problem in the transmission's operating system that requires use of a scan tool to diagnose. Your truck is either equipped with the 4R100 (if it's the 7.3L), or the much more complex "Torqshift" 5R110W (if it's the 6.0L). Just for your information, the most common and catastrophic failures with the Torqshift transmission, is the tendency for the reverse clutch drum retaining snap ring to "walk" out of the groove in the transmission case. If this is your problem, GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALER WITHOUT DELAY. The cause of this type of failure is due to constant "reverse-to-drive, drive-to-reverse" use during plowing.
