Cruise control on my holden VL V8 won't maintaine speed when set?

Question:
I brought a second hand vacuum operated cruise control which I fitted with all parts.Had an auto electrican wire in the loom with computer and I fitted the servo ,vacuum hoses and cable to carburetor. The particular model car I have had all the extra loom already fitted for the cruise control etc.I have been around all the hoses with a spray bottle of soap & water looking for air leaks .Whats the best way to diagnose the problem with out buying a new servo unit.

Answers:

Mercedes CLK 320 around how much?!?

It sounds like you might have hooked up the vacuum hoses wrong. instead of having a constant vacuum you have a fluctuating one . find a vacuum diagram and check the routing of the vacuum hoses. another thing to check is the vacuum hoses under the dash, you might have a leak under there
