What's wrong with my Saturn? Is it haunted?!?

I have a 1994 Saturn SW2. Yesterday, on the way to work, I was having to put the brake pedal ALL THE WAY to the floor to get the thing to stop. I pulled over, checked the fluid, and it was full to the correct level...no leaking sighted anywhere. I had just changed the pads and rotors on the front last month, and there was so squealing when I was stopping...so that can't be it.

Then, on the way back home, all my instrument panel lights kept flickering every once in a while. The battery light would flicker, then the airbag light...just flicker on for a second then go back off. When I stopped the car in my driveway and opened the door to get out, the automatic seatbelt didn't retract...it just stayed across my chest. Then it retracted halfway and stopped. Then it jerked about an inch...then another inch...then nothing.

Try stopping your car, turning it completely off for about 30 seconds and restarting, that sometimes clears the computer.

For your brakes, if you had someone do them, I'd take it back. It could be that it wasn't bled properly or it may need a new master cylinder. Or, maybe the power vacuum booster is going.

You might raise the hook and look to see if any vacuum lines are off. It could be as simple as that. If you don't see any, try starting it up and listening for any hissing noises such as from a line that's become disconnected.
