I own a shop, and have built race cars all my life. Why don't you check into putting a turbo on your engine? Have you ever seen a Buick Grand National? They have a V-6 in them, and they are just mean! With the set-up you have now, you may have trouble with some of the imports, so you need to look at doing something to give you the power you need, and a turbo is just the ticket. Also; check out the link at the bottom, and see what you can get to help out in the computer department. One thing I would encourage you do is; Get yourself a gear & posi-unit under the back of the car, and you will hang with them. You probably have a 2.72:1 one wheel spin right now, so if you can go to a 3.73:1 or 4.11:1, you will get some respect right away. A four cylinder can be geared to pull wheel stands, so you know your gear is hurting you bad.Glad to help out, good Luck!
Can 18 in. rims fit on an 1987 honda accord?
Go buy some hot rod magazines. They will tell you how to squeeze all the power you can out of the car. But a V6 in a Chevy Camaro is a dog. Too much weight and not enough ponies. A tweaked up rice burner will blow the doors off of it.150 hp and 2000 lbs of Jap tech will probably whip your a*se. You have a big handicap with that weight and need to be looking at nearer 300hp to be competitive with somthing like a Subaru WRX.
V6 will never win..trade for a V8
What can i look for to cure codes po171 & po174 in a 1999 chevy s-10 with 4.3 liter engine?
For the price of adding a supercharger/turbo, you could easily trade the car in for a V8 Camaro and be well ahead of the game. Go after a 1998-2002 Z28, if you choose this route. The LS1 engine is a very mod-friendly engine, and is 305 hp right out the gate. The sky is the limit after that.More Questions & Answers ...
