I have a 1989 Ford F-150 with a Straight -six and a 5-speed manual Mazda/Toyo Transmission. The engine is junk and i was wondering if the transmission Bellhousing would fit/bolt up to a 1986 ford 5.8L Engine.

Actually, the 4.9 and both the 5.0 (302) and 5.8 (351W) engines use the same bellhousing bolt pattern. Having switched the engines in my truck, first from a 300 I-6 to a 302, and then to a 351W, I can tell you the only problem for me was that a newer clutch style wouldn't fit into the old bell housing and bound up. The bell housing itself bolted right up but I had to change the clutch because the clutch bolt pattern on the new flywheel I bought for the 351W was different than the old clutch pack. This was an issue for me because the engines I was using crossed the magical line of 1982 at which point the 302 and 351 went from being balanced differently to using the same flywheel. I hope that explanation isn't too confusing for you, but the bottom line here is that with the newer engines that you are talking about, the bell housing size and bolt pattern are identical for all three blocks. Enjoy the extra power.
Ford 5 speed trans?
The answer to this question is, what transmission was it that came out of the vehicle? If it is an AODE or C40 or what have you, then all you need to do, is find out what transmission is in the vehicle you want to put it into. Also keep in mind that any electrical components such as TCS or Solenoids may affect things.
Why would a convenance control module default? Is it the same as a Comfort Control Module?
The 4.9 is a 6 cylinder which won't bolt up to a v-8 because it has different bell housing. The only thing that will bolt up to the 5.8L has to be a W engine (windsor, small block ford) to work. (The tranny itself will work, but the bell housing will not)
