Hello my Astra keeps cutting out when stopping at junction, it then takes ages to start back up again and sometimes it will start and rev slighty on its own, im not sure really what it could be any help would be appreciated thanks

hi there, best thing to do is to take your car to vauxhall - and they will tell you straight away whats wrong with it - instead of throwing money away.my brother had the same problem and vauxhall simply reprogrammed th ecu - something a back street garage will most probably tell you to do and still charge you.

This could be a number of things. Firstly has an orange engine management appeared on the dash, or maybe appeared and now gone off? When this comes on it stores trouble codes which can be read at a vauxhall garage and the mechanics are able to pick up the prob straight away. If not the only way to sort this problem is to take it to a vauxhall garage. It could be that your ECU (the main sorta brain of the car) needs updating, this takes about 10minutes and wont cost much (we charge £15, some garages dont charge). The Idling speed could need adjusting as if its too high or low it can cause the probs you describe. Also it could be something like the EGR valve or the Crankshaft sensor. All of these cause the same sorta probs, or it maybe something that needs investigating further. You dont say how old the car is, if it is reasonably new (under 6yrs) then it may have a recall or rework outstanding, get the vauxhall garage to check if this applies to your car as the reworks are set by vauxhall and dont cost anything. Whatever the prob only a vauxhall garage can sort it really so i'd take it to your nearest dealer. The initial checks should be free and they will advise you on what needs to be done and prices before doing anything.Hope this helps!

Hi,Vauxhalls are known for having problems with their fuel injection pump relays.What tends to happen with them is after a run,they over heat,and do the job they are designed to do,that is,cut out.After a period of time they cool down and are back to normal.So if I were you I would take it to your local Vauxhall dealership and they will be able to confirm your problem.The best of luck.More Questions & Answers ...
