Question:
I have a 2000 Wrangler with an Automatic Transmission...I hate it, the Auto part. The Jeep itself kicks ***! I want to take the Auto out and put a stick in. About how much that cost and is it even worth it?

what woud be the best set up for a 450hp sbf on nos?
i mechanic for a living,,and on that new of a model it would be worth it,,you,ll have a lot of things to change though,,i have done this before,,the cost for this is around 2 grand,,and you could probably take the 2 grand and trade yours for a standard shift one,,i did one of these,,and did have a hard time finding all the stuff i needed to complete the job with,,i swore id never do another one.,id say by the time you get this done you,ll feel the same way also,,but that's about all i can tell you about it,,good luck if you decide to do it,,you,ll need it,,hope this help,s.it will be a lot cheaper to sell that one and buy one with a manual transmission. By the time you buy the transmission (and maybe a transfer case), the linkage, pedal setup, computer (yes, you have to have one for a manula trans) and deal with the wiring you will have upwards of $3000 in it. you can trade your for a jeep of the same year for less than that.
Are Fords becoming the worst production cars ever?
BillyJon, It will depend on if the vehicle is worth it to you for this endeavor. First, the pricing would be from different sources. Are you doing the work yourself, a friend, a shadetree mechanic or a dealer. Second, where will you get the parts to do this. A junk yard, internet, salvage yard, or dealership?Overall, a 2000 has been geared in numerous ways to have an auto or manual in it (driveshaft, computer, speed sensors, etc). Whatever comes in it from the factory, is what all computer components are set for. You will have to replace more than just the old "tranny & gearbox" from years ago.
93 toy. corolla 230,000 miles going strong but....?
JUST as an estimate, AND saying you have this done at a dealer. Most dealership's labor is done via Chilton labor standards, if a vehicle is out of warranty or if the repair is non-specific (such as what you are requesting). You can go to the library and look up the removal of an auto tranny (generally 4 hours labor), the removal of the steering column (since the stick will change the column, and I'm guessing, 1.5 hours), removal of the drive shaft would be inclusive in the removal of the tranny (or should anyway), removal of the computer/chip would be 1.0 hours-ish.
I need a code for trollars inside?
Now without any additional charges, double the labor hours on what I have estimated for you, just for a reinstallation of the manual tranny, new steering column and updated computer chip. This doesn't count the cost of the tranny, fluids, etc. The tranny can be upwards of $2000 alone. Depending where you live, shop labor can be $50-$75 per hour. Add the hours up, multiply by any amount you choose between $50-$75 and add $2000 for the tranny. This will be an estimate only
