steering columns are pretty simple. Just buy a Chilton or Haynes for your make/model. Follow the instructions given. But one word of advice, you are dealing with some wiring. After you disconnect a wire from your old column, take a piece of tape and wrap it around the wire and label what the wire is an where it goes. Even take a picture if you have a digital camera. it depends on the car if it is a gm there quite easy if its a ford it isn't to all full bad any other one there pretty hard and if you have a air bag then you really have to be careful. but you have to let us know what kind of vehicle it is before we can help you.i own a shop and you have to completely remove the old one,and unhook all the wires from it,and also unhook it from under the hood also where it connects to the steering box or rack and pinion unit,its not an easy job to do,you,d be better off letting a good mechanic do this,there's a lot of things that could and usually do go wrong with doing this job and a mechanic will know what to watch out for when doing it,you will be better off having this job done,believe me i been doing this for 36 yrs,and anyone who says its easy hasn't done one,good luck i hope this helps.
