Question:
My 2004 Jeep Wrangler Sahara begins to shake from time to time and nearly jerks the steering wheel out of my hand. The only way to get it to stop is to almost stop the vehicle. It diesn't do it all the time, but every once in awhile, it's really bad.
Does anyone else have this problem and if so, what can I do to get it repaired? I have a Skyjacker 2" suspension lift, Mickey Thompson 15X8 Classic II's, and BFG All Terrain TAs on it.
What are some GOOD fog lights for a HONDA CRV 2007?
I thought the problem was my factory wheels, but I had the new wheels put on it a week or so ago, and still have the same problem. The tires are a couple of years old, have about 18,000 miles on them, but still have good tread.
Any information would be greatly appriciated.

Where is the amplifier in a Mercedes e320 2000?
You didn't say if it started after you installed the lift. I'm assuming the you installed a budget lift (spacers). If I'm wrong edit your question and I'll edit mine.Budget lifts change caster angles. The control arms that keep your axle in the right place try to maintain the proper caster angle through the axles range of motion. By putting spacers the suspension thinks the axles are in a 2 inch deep hole. This causes Bump Steer and sometimes Death Wobble.
If you're on the highway and you hit a bump with one wheel and the steering jerks that's called Bump Steer (I'm sure you can guess why). But sometimes the same bump can cause the whole front axle to shake as it bounces off of all the rubber bushings in the system. This is called Death Wobble because it is very possible to lose control of the truck, and on the highway this is usually bad.
What to do with my chevy lumina?
Check all the bushings in you front suspension. The control arms (8), track bar(2), shocks (4) and sway bar and links (6). Dead or loose bushings (especially in the track bar) give the axle room to move and could cause death wobble. Next check your steering dampener. If it looks suspect or dead, replace it with a heavy duty version (it's job is to absorb road impacts).
If all this looks good, get under the truck and have an assistant move the steering from left to right in 60 degree sweeps. Check from the steering box to the tie-rod ends. make sure that there in no slop or loose play. Repair any suspect parts.
What can you say about Henry Ford the car manufacturer?
P.S. You edited you post so I'll edit mine. As mentioned by others, other culprits that can cause this are: ball joints, bearings, and frame failure. Check ball joints by getting one wheel off the ground, put one hand on top and one on the bottom and try to twist the wheel by pushing on top and pulling on the bottom. If it moves at all you have bad ball joints.
I need wheels for my 2007 solara convertible?
When bearings fail there are usually noises (crunching, clicking, squealing). Since you didn't mention any I won't go there.
Who drives a new shape Audi A4 convertible are they any good?
As for frame failure do this check last after all other options are checked. Get your hands on a pressure wahser, and blast the front frame rails from every angle possible. Concentrate on every point the the suspension connects to it. After every thing is dry get under the truck with the strongest light you can get you hands on and have an assistant crank the steering from lock to lock. Check every weld for movement or cracks. The slightest movement will be multiplied 10 times if it's caused by road bumps. After you're done treat the frame with some kind of anti-rust treatment so you still have a frame a year from now.

It sounds like bad bearings, bad ball joints, or sway bar problem. If its when you apply brake pressure then maybe you should have your brakes checked, they may be warped or just need to be turned over.

It's called the "death shake" . Very dangerous. It has to do with the lift kit installation, but beyond that, I don't recall exactly what causes the problem as I never had the problem on my rigs. I seem to remember that it was drive shaft angle, but not sure. I have given you a link below to a group of very friendly, knowledgeable Jeepers. steering stabilizer shock is bad.How can I reset the service light on my ford Mondeo "M" reg ?
My 2004 wrangler does this from time to time too. I have a 4.5 inch lift with 33" x 12.50" pro comp xterrains. It does have a lot to do with the lift but it also stems from the tires as well. The best thing I have found is the dual stabilizer. It is a bolt on accessory for about $110. The only one I have experience with is from Skyjacker. Should help to correct most of the problem. If the problem persists then it could be bad bearings in the front end. Thats a bit more invasive so I dont really have much advice other than to have your local mech change them out, sorry. I have the same problem with my cherokee. The suspension is stock though. If you get any good answers let me know!I used to have an 86 CJ that did the same thing. Very scary with on-coming traffic and stuff. Turned out to be where the steering box bolts to the frame just under the bumper. Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the box. If this is the problem it will be visibly obvious. ie. The steering box should not move.
