Should I get the new beetle with the top that gos down or the one that doesnt?
It depends on what you are looking for and how big your wallet is.I have owned both and had a much better run from Toyota land cruiser. i also wouldn't go for auto unless its just for highway use and if that's the case then why a 4x4.
I had a lot of problems with the land-rover although the motor was good it was things like gearbox , universals. and some of the plastic fittings, electrics too were inferior.
The Toyota however was a 4 litre 6 cylinder diesel with winch and everything standard equipment and gave me 7 years of trouble free motoring it was also cheaper so i say go for the Toyota and i wouldn't bother with the RAV4 they are too small and are just toys when it comes to 4x4s
if i had to choose it would be the land rover but according to reliability the toyota gets better reviews

It outnumbers Land Rovers and everything else probably 10 to 1.
What is the ACTUAL gas mileage of a Honda Civic Hybrid?
Land Rover is great and it's one of the few "blingin'" SUV's that can actually do more off-roading than just driving on a freshly mowed playing field, but it's still an overpriced piece of bling with Ford reliability.
Toyota keeps it real and if your fragile ego requires bling, there is always Lexus.
