Question:
I was told by the AA that the problem with my car was probably the oil cooler as a mixture of oil and coolant had poured out of the top of my radiator hose. I need to have this done by a garage as cannot do this kind of thing myself! Does anyone know if this will cost a lot to do?

The tranny cooler is in the radiator. So you replace the radiator- 250-300 bucks.
Engine oil in the anti-freeze sounds like a headgasket issue. Has your vehicle recieved the NEW Chrysler MULTI-LAYER STEEL Headgasket??? If not(a good mechanic can tell if it has been installed) You should get that done. 600-800 bucks.

An oil cooler can be purchased at one of a dozen auto parts stores or any dodge dealership. There are numerous places online to also purchase parts.Does anyone know where I can find a Silvia S15 Widebody Conversion for a '96 240sx?
It appears that an oil cooler for a 96 neon is roughly $50. Getting a mechanic to work on it will cost considerably more than the part itself. If you know someone who works on cars, tell them to come over and fix your oil cooler and you buy them dinner. Or if you have someone closer (father, boyfriend, husband) that is mechanically inclined, they'd probably do it for nothing.

I'm not sure of how many hours a mechanic will charge you, but I would guess that $150-200 would be the end price after all is said and done (parts included).

Your tranny cooler may run on the bottom of your radiator. If you have engine oil in yout anti-freeze, then you have a bad head gasket and you should drain your oil and see if you have anti-freeze in your oil. You will have a head gasket problem if you have anti-freeze in your oil. This could be expensive because water could have penetrated the bearings.More Questions & Answers ...
