What happens if you put automatic transmission fuild in a manual transmission?

Question:
2001 Ford Focus ZX3 - 5-speed manual transmission

Answers:

What website can I find out what options came with my vehicle?

The type of transmission fluid specified by the manufacturer is dependent upon the synchronizer blocker ring material used in the manual tranmission in question. With that said, you may experience difficulty shifting gears, if the wrong specification of fluid is used. The book specifies only 1.9 liters for its total fluid capacity on your particular car, so it's not a lot of fluid wasted, if it was mistakenly put in.

Do i wash my car when it is warm or cold out?

Let me put it this way. Automatic trans fluid is like 20W oil.pretty thin. Manual trans fluid is 90W.like molasses in January.
There is a reason for that.
So, if you did it drain it like pronto. Manual transmissions will last the life of the car with the same oil in them(200,000 miles plus) There is no reason to go in there.
They are sealed up pretty tight. and the rear tranny seal never blows as there is no pressure build up in the transmission housing.
The only reason for going inside a manual transmission is if you method of driving is "grind to find" the gears.

manual trannys run on gear oil not trans. fluid and you didn't put any in because you cant without removing the tranny
all these people saying it okay and stuff need to learn a little more on the subject before answering especially the "mechanic" guy
Bill r is the dip stick he keeps saying manual trannys use auto tranny fluid if that was true do you think they would still call it auto tranny fluid NO that's why its called gear oil and F.Y.I. tranny fluid is hydraulic and not a lubricant but gear OIL is and it only needs to be replaced when rebuilding or if water gets in the case. listen to the lady that has the same car!

Required to use only fluid that has been released by Ford under WSDM2C200C. This is a 75 weight gear oil and it takes 2 quarts when changing. You CANNOT use auto tranny fluid (Mercron/Mercron V) as auto tranny fluid expands. Using auto tranny fluid can damage your gears.
