What is correct operating temp. in pontiac gran prix(02)?

Question:
temp.seems too high.200-220 ideling. but cools down when driving.not leaking coolant.really does not overheat.average outdoor temp. is 70-100 deg.also a/c not working ,related? I would really apreciate any help,thanks

that is to high on it,i own a repair shop,and it should cool down at around 197 degrees on it,if its getting up that high all the time it might need flushing out real good ,and a new thermostat in it,that's really not a comfortable temperature to run it at,because its not going to take much more than that to pop head a gasket on it,and if you ever get stuck in traffic with it going that high it may over heat on you,id get it checked,one thing you really don't want to do is get that one real hot.good luck i hope this helps.
