BIG differences! The 1 series is your base BMW. As you move up the gammet (3 series, 5, 6,7, and the relagated 8) You will find that the cars get larger, and more expensive. Arguably the best overall performance cars BMW produce are in the 3 series. They are well equiped luxury wise, however still pack a VERY potent punch, especially in the M variety. The 5 series is slightly larger, and slightly more expensive. The 5 series is offered only in 4 door, however certain "packages" such as the sport, or M, have some serious backroad prowess. The 6 series is BMW's flagship 2 door coupe/conv. It is very elegant, very luxurious, and very fast. it's also very expensive. The true flagship of BMW however is its 7 series. This is where ALL the goodies BMW has to offer come out. They are very plush, very big, and VERY expensive (can be well over $90,000). The 7 series is the best of the best, but not nearly the "performer" the "lesser" cars are.
