ok, it should go something like this: crawl underneath your car and unplug your pump. run it till it stalls to empty the fuel lines a bit so you don't get a spray of gas in the face. turn it off. crawl back underneath. there should be two straps holding the tank in that are bolted to the body. un-bolt the straps. the tank falls free.

if your fuel pump is out, you wont have any fuel pressure anyways. first and foremost, unbolt the tank from where you put gas in the car. there should be 2 bolts there. then crawl under the car and unbolt the straps. be sure to put a jack stand and have a buddy help you with this. there big and heavy, especially with a full tank. once you drop the tank, you can acsess the fuel pump from the top.how exhaust size maters in performance?
With out looking at a service manual it would be hard to say bbut in most autos the two straps secure the tank you will need to have a jack under the tank to lower it down , hopefully it is on empty , then you will have to lower it just a bit after disconnecting the screws at the gas filler you have to reach around towards the top of the tank and make sure you are not streaching any lines this is where you need the manual. if it is stright forward lower it down making sure yur jack has a long or a square piece of wood between the jack and the connection point to the tank you dont want to punch a hole through it . any way lower it down and slide it out draw a map of your connections if need be and open her upAre Nissans and Infinitis better than American Engineering?

This is a very dirty job and can be hazardous as you are fooling around with gas. If you have access to a hoist, use it. If not you will have to jack the car up as far as you can. There is no drain on a fuel tank so either suck it out or be prepared for a spill. There are two big rubber hoses for filling that have to be removed on the side of the tank or at a metal pipe on the side. Remove whichever is easiest being smart to see which will enable tank removal. There will be at least three pressure pipes to the top of the tank which need to be removed, sometimes it is easiest to get these apart right by the fuel filter area and remove the rest with the tank. There also is a 3 way electrical connector that is usually close to the fuel filter that has to be taken apart. Then it is just a matter of removing the two straps and any exhaust hangers or heat shields that may be in the way. You will probably have to tip and wiggle these out and in. Lots of gas and dirt will be spilling out so be careful. Good luck.More Questions & Answers ...
