I have a 99 Pontiac Montana, the service engine soon light came on?

Advance checked -code was P0741 it said Torque Converter, CKT Performance or Stuck Off, this is exactly whay it said, what does this mean, van has been acting like it will cut out when driving especially up hills, Advance didnt know the answer

PO741 means the computer "commanded" the torque converter clutch on but did not see the expected response from the tcc pressure switch ( the switch is a fed back circuit to tell the computer when the tcc is receiving apply pressure) so,when the computer turns on the tcc,it knows that it should see a change in the switch. po741 means it did not see the change. most of the time it's ether the switch or the wiring.very seldom is there a problem with the torque converter,gm's own service bulletin says to carefully inspect the wiring harness leading to the trans. pay attention to the "pass thru" connector at the trans,a loose fit at this point can cause this problem. the wiring harness is prone to damage where it passes under the air filter housing, approx 80% of the time it's going to be a wiring issue

Your tork con. is between your motor, and your transmission, it builts up pressure to make your car move in forward or reverse gears, with this new of a vehicle I would bet that you need a transmission filter kit and just have it change. I havn't heard that there was a problem with any of them being called back. Hope it is just a filter situation, not a tork convert. Sorry

4T65-E trans with this code usually means the t-conv was commanded on by pcm but it did not apply for some reason either mech or mabe a elec solenoid issue.and wiring problems included.needs to be checked by experienced trans tech .
