Question:
I am actually looking for the best performance car that does not require premium gas/octane 91. The cars that i have looked at the Mini Cooper S, Mazda RX-8, G35 all require premium gas. With the prices these days going up and expected to go even higher and me being in the market for a car i am hoping to find one that does not require premium gas. I have looked at the Hond Civic SI but dont know what kind of gas it needs. So whats the best performance car that does not quire premium gas? Any ideas?

How can i add more HP to my 4.6L V8 1996 XR7?
Mustang GT's 4.6L V8 requires regular gas. It's also rated towards the top of reliability data in it's segment...also has about 50% market share in the coupe market with over 140K sold on a yearly basis.95 Honda Accord EX D4 Flashing. Need Some Consult?
Of course, insurance will hurt you, not so much for the gas. But the Mustang has always been known as offering the best bang for the buck.
I also agree, I find it a bit rediculous to have to pay "premium gas" on any vehicle for that matter...but some automakers will tyr to squeeze the most out of their engine, and to do so the engines compression rate is something they tailor so pull that extra bit out of the engine.
I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA CAMRY SE and i was wondering if i could fill regular unleded gas?
And granted, read your owners manuals. Some people might tell you "Well if the vehicle requires premium, and you just put regular, it retarded the timing so it doesn't damage the engine"...but in reality, you only do that in emergency. Stick to the requirement the engine asks for. Sometimes saving pennies in the beginning, will cost you hundreds in the end.
Hope this helps :-)
Slp loudmouth... borla.. flowmaster?
I think you would be very satisfied with the g35 for reliability, looks, and performance. You might want to look at an American made car. I would wait to see the new Camaros and Challengers. They should be in the same price range as those listed by you.If not, go old school muscle! Most performance cars today are going to require higher octanes due to emissions.
Subaru : what does dual stage heated seats mean?
Putting regular gas wont hurt the car. They tell you to put premium gas to get the most performance out of the vehicle. Premium gas adds up to 5 horsepower to your car. Some car companies want to to be satisfired with your cars performance so they tell you to use that gas. Premium is just better quality and could be used in any car.Mustang GT, GT500 if you got the $, and an Si for a nice ricer.
What does GMC's "C" exactly stands for?
Well you didn't state what price range you are looking at, but there is a big difference between cars like the Mini or Civic and the RX-8 and G35. Any proper performance car is going to require you to use premium gas. The Civic, I would think, does not because it doesn't really fall under "performance" vehicles. Any true performance car is going to need premium, so if that is your main requirement (that is use regular gas), then you are pretty much out of luck. On that note, the manufacturer "recommends" premium, but know of people that use regular in those same vehicles. Personally, I would never do it, and don't recommend it, but it can be done. Out of your picks, if you are truly going for performance, I would definately pick the Infinity. They are incredible cars; my friend has one and it is very quick and sounds great. They are well made and have never heard of any problems as far as reliability goes. You also asked about other 6 cylinders... (by the way, you know the Civic and Mini are both 4 cyl right?). I drive a Lexus IS300 which I absolutely adore. It's an inline 6, 3.0, but it is a 4 door, and it sounds like you are looking for a coupe. But it is a very sporty sedan... You mentioned the V6 Accord which I think is rather nice and will probably be fine on regular gas; however, not sure how it would be as a performance car... maybe with some modifications (intake, exhaust, etc) Other recommendations would be Acura RSX (4 cylinder, but less expensive and smaller) or if you want to spend the money, the TL or RL which are both gorgeous and sporty. Other than that, there aren't too many I would recommend, personally. Any questions let me know.More Questions & Answers ...
