the monte carlo is a two door coupe, not a sports car. a sports car is designed compact and low to the ground with oversize engine capable of over 140 mph. the monte carlo can't do more than a 110 fully stripped with a stock engine. it can go much faster, but needs a specially equiped engine designed for speed and power.if used for racing, it can go up to 225 mph on a track. with special equipment for racing.
most race stock cars, are really just a body clamped onto a racing frame and engine. very few monte carlos were ever used as stock cars for racing or as funny cars on drag strips.

well that all depends on which monte carlo you get there are three diff models to choose from you have the Earnhardt addition that is supercharged and that is diffidently a sports car and then you have the SS edition with all the trim and duel exhaust and that is a sports car and then you have the LX model which isn't considered a sports car, so two out of the three are considered a sports car

Its a sports coupe. Its not a full on sports car because its front wheel drive and its big. If you are getting a Monte from the 80's than yes it would be a sports car because is has a V8 with rear wheel drive. But any Monte from 96 to present is just a sports coupe.It's not a sports car.
