GM exterior door handle problem?

Question:
The locking mechanism on my door handle stopped working. I pulled off the interior door panel and got the 2 bolts off the handle. I managed to get the handle out of the door but it was really hard to do. I noticed the Lock Rod was not attached so i attached it and now I cant get the handle back in the door... Am I supposed to keep the handle in the door to work on it?

Depending on what your vehicle is, you may need to undo the rod, reinstall the handle THEN pop the rod into place. It might be a pain in the butt, but some of them must be done this way. Just keep trying and don't get frustrated, you'll get it.

if you can hook it up with it in the door do it, it will be a lot simpler.

Yes the handle should be in the door to work on it put it back in and then make sure everything connected
