Question:
I have been reading all the bad things about the 2.7L, which thankfuly has been working well for me @ 130,000 miles, I would like to replace it with a V8 hemi if posable. Will it bolt up to the trans? could I replace the whole drivetrain and make it a rear wheel drive? I love my car, like I said ~130,000 miles and I still get the estimated EPA and I only wish I could make regular oil changes. I feel it's only a matter of time and I want to be prepaird. I've heard the 3.2L will bolt up but I want to go bigger. :)

Is the Chevrolet Tahoe very bad on gas?
A rear wheel drive drivetrain swap would be a huge job... I wouldn't even know where to start... the sub-and unibody work alone would take more engineering and fab time than it's worth. I know they used the Intrepid as police cruisers for several years... if you are dead set on a swap I would suggest finding one of these at an auction or something and swapping the drivetrain. If you want a hemi trade the Intrepid in on a Charger or Magnum...I can HIGHLY doubt it will just bolt up. your going to have too look into a custom front end swap with a car that has a hemi and tranny. basically cutting the front end of lets say... a front wheel drive car with a hemi off and the front of your intrepid of then welding the other front end on your intrepid then putting the intrepid fenders, lights and front clip and hood on.. good luck dude
Turbo kit for 2007 Legacy Limited?
The answer to this burning question is no. There isn't enough space in there and the gas mileage will be poor. I own one with the 2.7 liter and had to replace the engine a year ago; but I contend that the engine wasn't maintained by the previous owner. The Intrepid is a front wheel drive car and would be expensive to make it rear wheel drive. Be cheaper to buy a Charger. What is the highest speed the Honda Civic 2006 or 2007 have?

ive thought about it, ive got a 2001 that i wrecked the front end so i would have to make a custom front for it anyway, and just turn it into a drag car. what you should do, which is easier, find a 3.5 HO engine and swap that in, 250 bhp is pretty good. an aftermarket cold air intake and a custom exhaust would probably put you somewhere around 275-290 hp.If you use a 3.5 you dont have to change the ECU, but you might want to cause they arent electronically limited to 115, also get a speedometer that goes to 150, they have them in the R/T's i think, i know they're in the cop version. if you're interested in more power try adding twin turbo's, rebuilding the heads and port and polish them, new intake, better injectors, headers... etc. but then you have to understand that the transmission probably wont last long with more than 350-400 hp.

you would have to get a new radiator, engine (obviously), transmission, move the gas tank to the trunk, weld new suspension mounts in the rear to support the rear axle, front suspension would have to change, probably custom build a new engine carriage that would still bolt to the unibody (if you could use the original engine carriage you wouldnt need to change the front suspension), you would have to become an electical genius to get a hemi computer and transmission computer to work with the car... more work than its worth.
