I want to rebuild my 1974 318, and I want to make at least 400 hp out of it (or more). Is this possible without adding a turbo or Super? Any one who's done this should let me know how they did it.

i own a shop and yes it is with enough money it can be done,but you,ll need a good set of 340 or 360 heads for it,and a lot of internal parts,the better thing would be to do is start with a 360 those are a lot cheaper and easier to build up,but i have built some good 318.s ,and they will run good ,but you really have to know what your doing with them to get that kind of power from one, you need a good mopar engine book it tells all kinds of ways to do this,there's too much involved in doing it for me to even try and put it up here, good luck with it hope this helps.I got a nissan titan and it got a flowmaster should i put a cold air intake?
Yes it is with some work.I got over 450 HP out of my 1969 chevy 396.

Yes - it is possible - but it would be cheaper (and better) to buy the Mopar Performance 360 crate engine - brand new - 390 hpI don't know what Body you are putting this in but make sure your transmission is up to snuff - if you already have a 4 speed you are in business - you will need the 360 flywheel and a good clutch - If you have the small automatic (904) have a good transmission shop go over it
make sure you are using either the 8 1/4 or 8 3/4 rear axle with at least 3:23 gears

I would go with a Mopar crate 360. You get 390 hp and it will cost less than trying to build a 318 that would produce that kind of power.Is a audi a4 1.6 (1999) a good first car??
if its a 1974 the cast # will have this number on the block2536030 318 1967-1975 (LA-series)

make sure of what it is first people do change motors on older cars. you dont want to buy a kit for a 318 if its a 340-360
