Although it depends on which VTEC engine you have.

It should be a stronger i guess, depends on what your old engine wasWhich one: Merc E280 CDI, BMW 525d or Audi A6 3.0 TDI?
V-tech is meant to be seamless in its operation. If you are feeling a decided change, then there is a problem with your vehicle and need to have it checked out.Good luck.

I have a 2000 Honda Accord How Do U Know When It needs a Tune-up?
Depending on the model, ecu, and other variables. (stock, modified, etc.Usually on the older B series dohc vtec models 1.6, 1.7, 1.8 there is a distinct tone change in the motor. Easier to tell when the crossover is in fourth gear so the rpms don't shoot up so fast.
I need to contact somebody that knows a lot about Ford trucks, mostly older models?
So to hear is best i suggest shifting relatively early in 3rd gear so the rpms drop to 3500 then accelerate and listen.
Stock gsr 1994 engage at 4500rpm, usdm b16 is 5500, I have had jdm b16 that cross over at 5800, same as type r.
2003 Audi A4 or A6 and 2006 Volvo S40?
Hope it helps. Keep on asking if there are more probs,
KC
trust me.. u will know. if not, it hasnt kicked in.
never went vtec cause i turbo charged mine and dropped a b20 in it. but my ex had a 94 gsr and i could always tell by the tone of the engine, it seemed to be a higher tone. if your not in tune with your motor its easy for exhaust and intake to drown out the pitch of the motor. As far as feeling it thats a tough way, it is only 30hp and if you came from a vtec motor your not going to notice a HUGE defference. Also they do make vtec lights so you can have a little tiny red light go on when you vtec kicks in for those of you that are not in tune with your machine
