The only thing makes me mad on the freeway is when there's two people driving side by side at the same speed limit and that is under the actual speed limit. I say common courtesy would be if the one in the left hand lane would either get in front of the one in the right hand lane or behind them so others can pass. ;o)

Because they might not have any patience, might be stressed, late for work, or something bad happened to cause them to take out their feelings on you. You never know what other people are going through.

I think people just forget the common courtesy that driving should come with. I wish they would give out tickets for people who are obscene and rude out on the road.

Because, by and large, people are out for themselves. Also, the sheer volume of traffic makes for anonymity. I liken it to living in a small town. When you walk down the road people say "hi" to each other. When you walk down a crowded street in New York, the idea of saying "Hi" to everyone is so impractical that we don't say hi to anyone. If you drive down a remote country lane, other motorists might even wave at you, as to say "hi".
Our society is so self-centered, I liken it to a "self preservation instict gone awry"- like filthy rich people just amassing more and more wealth while people starve in the street.
