Does anyone know the traffic situation on the A38 sbound from derby?
It depends on how the camera is set up. But the most used type is the Gatso which takes a picture of the rear number plate, this is accompanied by a flash. However, there is another type that takes a photo of the front of the car including the driver, this does not flash but uses infra red light so as not to dazzle the driver. The people that operate all types of camera are constantly striving to squeeze more money out of the motorist, so you can't be sure if you have got away with it until 14 days after the offence. That is how long they have to send the notice ,allow a couple of days for the post. Anything you hear after that is outside their time limit and you can tell them to get stuffed. If you are prosecuted it is £60.00 and 3 points on your licence. Good luck.do you drive on interstate highways?

if there are lines on your side of the road then you probably got caught. Then the penalty is 3 points and a £60 fine. However, you can ask to see the picture to prove who was driving. If you can't see who is driving on the picture then they can't prove you were driving unless you admit to it. Otherwise, you can just ague the point with the police. How to beat the new speed traps in South Africa?
It's unlikely that you will have been affected. The reason that there are lines on the road is so that the camera can take two pictures, a fixed amount of time apart. If the radar detects that you are moving above the speed limit, a second picture taken shortly after will confirm your speed by comparing your position to the lines on the road. Clearly, the more off-axis you are from directly ahead of the camera, the greater the margin for error. This is why there tends to be pairs of cameras a short distance apart facing opposite directions. As far as most cameras being switched off, I'm not sure that's true really. They store the images digitally, so the capacity is pretty huge.
What do you think are the causes of Road Rage?
The fine and endorsement depends on the limit and how much you were exceeding it. Doing 40 in a 30 will probably attract a 'SP30' endorsement; 3 points and a sixty pound fine. If it does, be sure to tell your insurance company as it may affect your premium. (Many of them will let you have one speed endorsement without charging more).

So why are there lines on both sides of the road? Not sure, but I think it may be to warn drivers who are overtaking there (where another vehicle may be concealing the road markings) that their speed may be measured at some point in the manoeuvre.
