Think your ok the lines are put on both sides as sometimes they do turn the camera(if the lines are set up as such), sometimes they are put on both lanes next to each other to stop people speeding past the camera on the wrong side of the road.

Generally speaking they send you a bill in the mail, you pay it and thats it. Since they physically did not stop your car, there is no way to prove who was actually driving so no points go on your license.

if there are lines on your side of the road then you probably got caught. Then the penalty is 3 points and a £60 fine. However, you can ask to see the picture to prove who was driving. If you can't see who is driving on the picture then they can't prove you were driving unless you admit to it. Otherwise, you can just ague the point with the police.
