For specific tips when your pulling in, go slow. If the space is on the right, move into the other lane at first to give your self a better angle to pull in. If the pace is on the left then you don't have to.
Ultimately if your going somewhere for at least the first little while, park away from everybody even if you have to walk a distance.
Keep practicing, you'll get it eventually.

If you are parallel parking, a little hint, and some cars like mine doe this automaticlly when you put in reverse, tilt your side mirror down so you can just see your back tire, as you back in, you will know how far from the curb you are. Find a space large enough in an open (vacant) parking lot. Get two cones like the utilities use to mark off a space. Or, get something that is light enough not to damage your vehicle if you ram into it and it will hold a pole and flag so you can see them. Then set them up the same distance apart that a parking space is long. Simply get someone who can help you to show you how to park between these poles and someone outside the car to help observe and direct you. Then, practice, practice, practice. You pull up beside the imaginary car ahead of the space, back and turn the cars wheels as you back in between the flags. Soon you will learn how to judge your distances and just slip right in. O.K.? Hope this helps. Good luck.Do HOV lanes really accomplish thier intended purpose?
Oh, and besides, if you are on a vacant lot, you need a couple of good friends along for protection, too. BIG FRIENDS, you know.

In addition to practise, practise, practise?what do you do on your drive to work?
It sounds dumb, and it feels dumb, but get a little toy car that has wheels that turn left and right. When no one is watching, you can practise with the toy car. It will give you a good idea of when you need to turn the wheels, and you can practise several scenarios without your nerves getting in the way.

Then take what you've learnt with the toy, and get back in the real car. You should find it easier to park.
