Why do some people walk slowly crossing the street or crosswalk when traffic is waiting?

Do all pedestrians do that to all drivers in traffic? Doubtful. Everybody has someplace to be. Everybody is in their own "zone" and nobody thinks about the other people outside that zone. Think about it. You're in a hurry and need to turn or get through an intersection and all you think about is the people who are in your way. Maybe they have a lot on their minds, maybe they are taking a quick break away from work and just want to chill out a little bit, maybe they're taking a phone call from someone who's important to them, maybe they are having the worst day of their life and don't even see you. Or maybe they are just being jerks. Everybody needs to develop a little more patience and courtesy--Everybody.

I live in a town with a high number of seniors, they just can't walk any faster so maybe I have built up a tolerance level. Besides the few extra seconds I have to wait is not going to make or break my day. The ones that really bug me are the jay walkers. They walk out into oncoming traffic and then saunter across the road forcing traffic to stop. A crosswalk I respect, these people are just a nuisance and they are the ones who are the control freaks.

Looks like I am a minority here. The roads belong to both pedestrians and vehicles. They can go at any speed they want to. Think about it. They waited their turn at the stop light. So it's your turn to wait for them. Personally, I hurry to let the cars go. But I do it only out of courtesy. I don't expect anyone else to do the same for me. It would be nice but not necessary. We all share the roads.

Have you ever considered that many people who don't own a car have to walk everywhere and they are dead tired, try to do that just for one day and you will no longer complain about people walking slowly in a cross walk. There are also people who are handicapped and can not walk very fast and the elderly. Have some compassion and kindness for others.
