Why do we not tout motorcycles and scooters more?

Question:
I read the article today on the Yahoo homepage about EV, but no one seems to talk about 2 wheelers as a viable alternative. I have about a 60 mile a day commute and with spiking and uncertain gas prices I decided to buy a scooter this year. It gets 65-70 MPG, goes up to 80 MPH or so and was a fraction of the price of the cheapest EV. Heck, it's a fraction of any hybrid and still a few thousand cheaper than a new Rio or Aveo. Why aren't scooters and motorcycles talked up more as alternatives? Why isn't there more information available as to current trends because I'm sure I'm not the only one with the idea and it does seem like there are a lot more two wheelers on the road?

Why do buses always stop in front of train tracks and open their doors when crossing the tracks?

I don't know how much more dangerous they really are, but I do know that the vast majority of Scooter and Motorcycle riders do not have any serious accidents. I'm sure that bad eating habits, smoking, and lack of exercise are all more dangerous than commuting to work on a scooter.

What does impeding traffic mean?

There are only two drawbacks that I know of. First, the weather controls you. Under 40ยบ, and your ride into work becomes less fun. And rain and snow are even worse. Second, you can bring you. There is some room in a scooter, and less on most motorcycles. Waqnt to go to Home Depot? Don't take the scooter. 2-wheelers don't lend themselves to grocery runs, car pools, or clothes shopping.

If everyone rode scooters, like in some countries, the danger would be greatly reduced.
