Question:
I rented a car in Germany last week, and thought there was no speed limit on the Autobahn. I don't know for sure if I got flashed or not, but I did go through some of the places there were signs above the flashing sign. I think I was with the traffic most of the time, but might not have been a few times. Also, I turned right on a yellow traffic light and was definitely flashed. I was trying to follow the directions of the GPS system and didn't really even see the light until it was too late. How long before I'll hear something, how much could it cost, and do you really have to pay them? I was told over there by Americans who live there that you don't, but I need someone to tell me who really knows. Thanks.

Will High Gas Prices Inspire Alternative Fuel Research?
Some place on the Autobahn DO HAVE SPEEDLIMITS. Usually it is in or near a large town. Why do we spend thousands on a car?
Yes. You do have to pay the ticket. The Car Rental Agency should get a ticket/letter in the mail. In this letter there usually be a copy of a picture showing the License Plate and a copy of a picture of the DRIVER as well as a time/date stamp.
Why the hell is gas so damn expensive?
The rental agency will then check their records to see who was driving the vechicle at the time. The rental agency should then contact you with a request to pay the fine.
As to ticket costs .
Thge ticket price could be as low as 20 Euro (or DM I'm not sure what money system is being used now but I believe it would be EUROs.) or some larger amount depending on the infraction.
How long will it take?
I do not know the answer to that question as I was living in Germany and in the military when I got may MANY 20 DM (Deutche Mark) fines. It took 2 weeks or longer for me to get the tickets.
In New Jersey, can parents train teens to drive during their drivers ed course?
It is my guess that it may take two weeks + for the Rental Agency to get the ticket and then another couple of weeks to contact you.
Dallas area designated drivers?
If you still have the contact that you signed when you rented the car I would READ IT caarefully. They may be able to charge your credit card when they get the ticket and MAY NOT even have to notify you.
How many gas stations take wal mart cards in hagerstown and martinsburg?
The ticket price may go up if the ticket does not get paid in a timely manner AND I'd assume that the rental agency will add a processing fee which can be expensive.
Are there any interesting things you see during your commute time?
What I would do:
I would contact the Rental Agency telling them that you believe you got caught be the photo traffic system and ask them what you can do to clear this up. They will surely be able to best address this issue.
Traffic cameras are popular in Germany, both for speeding and for intersections. So I'm not surprised if you got "flashed". Since you dealt with a car rental agency, it could be a while before you get any tickets (if, indeed, you got a ticket). It will be sent to the agency first, and then the agency will eventually deduct the amount from you credit card (they will not ask you for permission; they already got this when you signed out the car). You *might* get a copy of the ticket sent to you by the agency, but this is unlikely.
