Motorway matrix signs?

Question:
Wouldn't it be nice if when there were no traffic problems that motorway matrix signs displayed something more useful than "If you are tired, take a break" or something equally bland like "bananas are yellow" (substitute "Queueing ahead" on the rush hour M25, we know,we know). How about recipe of the day or jokes, especially if you are sitting in a queue going nowhere?

I kid you not - this is true. Last year they installed some of these on the motorway near where I live. For months they were blank, then one night I could see in the distance that one of them had a message displayed on it. As I got closer I could read: "This sign not yet in use".

Why isn't Drew's street on Mapquest?

These signs should be used to display useful info such as accidents ahead, queuing traffic etc. They should not be used to dictate and interfer with our lives by telling us to take a break or not use a mobile phone etc. They just can't resist poking their noses in. They will be telling us when to go to the loo next !!
