Question:
Is it really better to put premium gas into your vehicle? What are the advantages and disadvantages?
Answers:
When will gas hit five dollars per gallon?
It is definately better with only one drawback, the cost. Higher octane fuel is different in that it resists detonation a few milliseconds longer than cheaper fuel. The difference may not seem like much but it does wonders with an engine. As the engine turns, the pistons move up and down. Inside the engine case the crank shaft rotates to create torque. As the fuel is combusted, it drives the piston downward, creating horsepower. But if the detonation is not timed just right, the piston is pushed down into the connecting rod before the crank shaft has cleared top dead center. Using fuel higher in octane fixes this problem, allowing your engine to make the most power it possibly can by resisting detonation until the crank shaft is completely past top dead center and in full power stroke. Also, higher octane fuel burns more completely, so less is left behind to build up on engine parts and pollute the air.
if your car pings its better.overseas minimum is 95 and thats not even premium
How to avoid accident by travelling in bus?
Really depends on the car. Most cars there is no advantage, not enough performance change to be Worth the cost, but in some cases mileage performance will increase.Best advice is to check manufactures specs and trial with a log book to keep track of mileage. Have seen in some cases were it gained and some where it was lost. How long is the usual commute to work in Ottawa?
higher octane gas is harder to ignite and burns slower allowing you to use it in a high compression engine, no difference if your engine does not require it.How long would it take an average adult, walking an average pace to walk about 1000 miles straight?
If your car's manual doesn't tell you to use Octane 93, do not use it. Your car was designed to run on whatever the manual tells you to use.Isn't it about TIME the EPA started making mpg ratings more realistic?
There really is no difference in performance with most vehicles...you're just shelling out more money.
Most modern cars have what's called a knock sensor so if it senses a knock from detonation (detonation: the shock wave of the air fuel mixture hitting the top of the piston while the piston is still going up on it's compresion stroke) then it will slightly retard your timing thus reducing horsepower. But if your engine doesn't knock or detonate then you will never know the difference in using regular vice premium. A sure fire way to know if it's to your advantage is to run your car the quarter mile with regular and then with premium trying to keep all other variables the same and to look at you times and speeds. (weather conditions, amount of weight in your car, etc. etc.)
Why do people feel the need to ride your a** when you drive?
Only if you have a high performance vehicle that calls for the use of premium gas, otherwise there is no benefit to putting it in, just more cost.More Questions & Answers ...
