Question:
Over the past few weeks, I've watched as gas prices here have inched their way up and up. One station this morning was $2.93 a gallon while others are hovering around $2.73.
On the news this AM, they said that it seemed the market was figuring in the worse case scenario because of the situation between Iran and Britain. Am I stupid? What does that have to do with raising the gas prices now? Besides, they started inching up before this incident took place. Every summer they go up and around certain holidays.
I want a guy in a suit to hold a sign with my name on it at the airport! How do I get that?
Maybe the government should have a fixed gas price where every station has to charge the same thing. If they set it at, say $2.63 a gallon, it should equal out in the long run, shouldn't it? At least it would be easier to figure out your budget.

What is the best type of transportation to travel in?
--------I hope you're open to a creative idea. Here's an unexpected solution to high gas prices. Look at this car:

The Phoenix electric pickup truck - this completely gas-free vehicle, using new, advanced Altairnano batteries - can:
What time is it where your at? 12:30am here?
-Travel up to 250 miles per charge
-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.
-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.
-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)

It is being manufactured right now for fleet customers like PG&E. If sales go well, it will be made available to individuals next year. Cost is $45,000 for hand-built cars, and this cost will fall considerably when factory production becomes feasible.

The electricity cost to drive an EV is only 1 to 2 cents per mile. I know this because I drive an electric car. Keep an eye on the Phoenix. And if you want to 'get your feet wet' in an EV without spending lots of money, it's possible to get an EV for as little as $5000. Here's a link:

Then you can SMILE as you drive past gas stations (like I do.)

I agree with government regulation of gas prices. As it stands we're at the mercy of a group of business owners instead of the government. Either way price fixing is bad but I'd at least rather the price fixing come from a more neutral entity. But, yes, the gas prices always go up during holidays, specifically because they know you'll pay it.
It doesn't have anything to do with any of that stuff. It has to do with speculators guessing at what the price of gasoline is going to be in the future. When the whole Iran/Britain thing started, speculators (think stock buyers/sellers only with gasoline) started buying up the futures (the right to buy a certain amount of oil in the future at a certain price) at higher and higher prices, guessing that any disruption to oil production in the Middle East due to war would make oil prices go WAY up and therefore would make them a lot of money. However, for you to get gas today, oil companies have to buy these futures in order to have the right to buy oil for when you need it a month in advance. It's just supply and demand. The economy's roaring along in the US, so there's a high demand for gasoline, and some are guessing that there might be a low supply in the future. This is just how that works.
How long does it take to get a driver license after finished study?
What really bugs me about gas prices is when the price of a barrel of oil comes DOWN, it takes WEEKS to see any price drop in the pump. But the INSTANT there's even a WHIFF of some complication in the Middle East, the numbers go up overnight -- and I'm amazed the gas station attendants can change the numbers on the signs fast.Driving at 70mph uses more fuel than at 50mph by what percentage?
For as long as oil companies have our necks and continue to lobby against research for alternative fuels, the price of oil will stay high.In this time of energy conservation, why aren't more states creating rail systems?
No doubt do you have any idea how hard it is for a person with a part time job to pay that much for gasJeez, where do you live? Over here (CA.) it's $3.09 + even at the cheapest gas stations.
